About the event

Alexander Marsh is the pen-name of professional mentalist Alex McAleer, who has been a working performer since 2007.

 

Under his pen-name, Alexander Marsh has lectured at the prestiges Magic Circle; contributed to publications by Jerome Finley, Elliott J. Bresler, and Banachek; filmed two Penguin Live Lectures; released best-selling effects such as Forgotten Princess and Thy Will Be Done; and with The 1914 Magic released a masterclass on the art stagecraft and the a mouth 5 hour masterclass on billet work. 

As well as performing at the usual private parties and corporate events, he has made countless television appearances around the world including ITV’s Good Morning Britain (UK), Seven Network’s Today Tonight (Australia), and NBC’s Access Hollywood (USA). In 2019 Alex appeared on BBC’s Blue Peter, the worlds longest running children’s television program.

 

In 2014 Alex took his one-man show to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and three shows to Australia’s Perth Fringe World Festival in 2016 and 2017 where he was nominated for the cabaret award. Since 2013 Alex has toured extensively with the ensemble illusion show ‘Champions of Magic’ across the UK and North America. 

Magicians Only. Past members and visiting magicians are very welcome at Derby Magic Circle, but there is a small fee of £10 payable on the night.

Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8.00pm start.

  • 6th Sense Ploy – a prop-less, visual, and dramatic way to reveal a thought. 
  • Folie A Deux – Predict almost anything in a sealed envelope handed out at the beginning of the show – no pre-show, no secret writing, no secret assistance. 
  • Forgotten Princess – cause a spectator to instantly forget a playing card they merely thought of, only to have them remember on your command. 
  • 3 Billets - Alex shares the work on his Billet Peek within a three person psychometry routine that makes the peek invisible.

Alex can also share his ’30/3/10’ structure which works to routine a show, a short act, or for close up performances.
